we all know that the the wts does not believe in the catholic church's claim to having the keys of the kingdom or to "bind on earth the things bound in heaven" as it states im matthew 16:19.. my question is: does the society teach that whatever decisions the governing body makes is "bound in heaven"?

I've read it when related to disfellowshipping or reinstating with the interpretation that we should accept any decision made by the elders or GB because if they prayed about a matter and then came to a certain conclusion, it's because God Almighty agreed. Someone once explained that if it was announced from the platform, it was already announced in heaven.

As much as it sickens me, I said that I was raised a witness and was planning to be baptized soon, and my whole family are jw. WHAM! Closed 'em. The wife said over and over how bad things are, the world is so bad, that everything is sooo bad, and the governments are bad and there are bad diseases, and there is war, to which I added, "that's bad". They're nothing if not motivational.
It's a treat to not live afraid of everything like they do. They only thing we should really fear are Car Salespeople.

i got a call today from a member of the judicial committee asking if i would meet with them.

i was told it was about my asking questions about wts involvement with the un and bethel layoffs and my getting information from an apostate website.. i told them i have never attended their kh and had been inactive for more than 20 years and no longer accepted their authority and they no longer had a control over my mind or what i read or say or do.
I'm liking the 'you can't fire me-I quit!!' mentality.

i recall a girl i had never met before who was crying (after we talked for a while) for being shunned by another local congo, and i thought that it was too cruel to shun people and something was not right with the jws.
Wow, instant flashback. . .18 years ago, I was a RP. A woman came to the door (my turn) and said very seriously that she hated the jws because her daughter became one at age 19, within a short while got DF'd, became so depressed that it ate her up and this poor woman, the mother, said she could not help her daughter--the girl was so despondent about the annoucement and being shunned, that she killed herself. She went on and on about how the DFing doctrince is so harsh, I knew all the stock responses, but there was going to be no explaining to this mother. . .and rightly so. My partner interupted and said, "We're sorry for your loss but that hasn't been our experience." We left.
This was in Arizona, I wonder if this woman ever posted here.
i called the properties department today to inquire about the jay st property and the zoning change that took place recently.
apparently, according to the sister on the phone, the gb gave the go ahead to seek the re-zoning to special mixed use district (mx-2), so that they could expand if needed.. when i asked, "hey i thought brooklyn was getting smaller?
" she laughed and said that they could sell it now for "a lot more" than under the old zoning.
